Day 3
March 18,2013
Our last day in Paris. Again it was a bit chilly, but most of the day was spent indoors. Breakfast was at 8 and we were to be packed and ready to go at that point. We had our choice of pasteries, crepes, yogurt and fruit.
At 9 we headed to the Louvre for some exploration time. A majority of us headed for Le Joconde, aka the Mona Lisa. We had about 4 hours of time to wander the museum and do some exploring of the surrounding neighborhood. I know some people went shopping and others stayed in he Louvre. Did you know that the Louvre is the largest museum in the world? And part of their collection is in storage because they can not display all of the relics? Crazy...
We caught the bus and headed back towards Ile de la Cite for lunch. We had Flam, a traditional dish from the Alsace region. Similar to a pizza, Flam is thin crusted and has a creamy cheese layer with meat, veggies, or dessert - chocolate or apple with cinnamon.
Our bus driver, Christian then took us to the Gare de Lyon where we boarded a 4:49pm train for Nice. For the most part our trip was uneventful and restful, er managed to offend one couple, but I think they were uptight to start with...
Start of day 4 - we arrived at the hotel last night at midnight and I was too exhausted to post. We are now on the bus that will take us the rest of the way on our voyage. The drive to the hotel was full of twists and turns as we climbed to the top of Nice so fortunately it was dark and we couldn't see :) I will add more tonight, provided I can get onto the Internet.
